Tatting thread, size 20, Lizbeth® white, black, 691 or 715
Seed beads: black, red, yellow
One shuttle or one tatting needle
Usual tatting supplies
Tray for beads
ds double stitch
dd 2 first half of the double stitch
ss 2 second half of the double stitch
cl r close ring

Directions for chickens:
Shuttles tatters: Wind 2 yards chicken colored tatting thread on a shuttle. Cut thread off of ball. Load 1 black seed bead, then
3 red seed beads, and lastly 1 yellow seed bead on tatting thread.
Needle tatters cut 2 yards of tatting thread off the ball and thread tatting needle. Place 3 red seed beads, and 1 yellow seed
bead on other end of tatting thread. Black seed bead will be added onto the needle. Be sure it fits over the eye of the needle
(Rings Only Method).
Begin with red and yellow seed beads in loop. Do not hide beginning thread end.
R 3 ds, B(yellow), 2 ds, B (black from shuttle on core thread), 2 ds, B(red), 1 ds, B(red), 1 ds, B(red), 5 ds ^(make joining picot
slightly larger than normal to accommodate 2 joins plus 2 lock joins), 2 ds, cl r.
No thread space. Picots are 5/8” (15mm) space.
R 2 ds +(to ^ of previous R) 8 ds, [-- dd -- ss] 3 times, 5 ds ^ 9 ds, cl r. Note: the ^ at the bottom of the chicken is to attach the
chicken to the mobius.
Front side wing
Carry shuttle thread across front side of chicken and LJ to ^ of the first R. No thread space. Picots are ¼” (6mm) space.
R 5 ds [-- dd -- ss] 2 times, -- 5 ds, cl r. Tie shuttle thread to beginning thread below beak in a double knot.
Back side wing
Carry shuttle thread across back side of chicken and LJ to ^ of the first R. No thread space. Picots are ¼” (6mm) space.
R 5 ds [-- dd -- ss] 2 times, -- 5 ds, cl r. Tie shuttle thread to beginning thread in a double knot.
Cut off shuttle thread leaving enough thread tail to hide the thread ends. Hide both thread ends on the underside of the wings.
Make 4 chickens for mobius.
